Ashtabula F.D.

Project Description

Client: Ashtabula F.D. Year Completed: 2019

New Sutphen Pumper for Ashtabula Fire Department, Ashtabula, OH. When the Fire Department did their apparatus specification for the new truck, they included Sensible Products equipment mounting in the spec. Once the truck was completed at Sutphen, it was delivered to Sensible Products. A detailed equipment mounting plan was established and work began. In the first drivers side compartment, one shelf was removed to better accommodate the equipment that needed to be carried in this area. Chanl Panl was added to the back and side walls and all water flow equipment was mounted. This included large diameter fittings, smaller couplings, adapters, mallets, hydrant wrench, pipe wrench, and various nozzles and wyes were mounted on the remaining shelf. A hose roller and foam eductor were mounted on the door. In the lower area of this compartment, a plastic welded divider was made to hold the portable monitor, hose rolls, tool box, hose clamp and flares. This all made for a nice, well packaged compartment. In the second drivers side compartment, the existing shelf was lowered and tilted forward to better access the hotel pack and Reeves that were secured on the shelf with straps. Under the shelf, a black plastic floor board was added and battery tools, two saws, and a pocket for saw parts were mounted. In the third drivers side compartment, the two existing shelves were rearranged. On the top shelf, rope bags and tarps were mounted. Under this shelf, Chanl Panl back wall and side wall boards were mounted. Stabilizer jacks, air tools, and a come-a-long were mounted on the Chanl Panl. On the additional shelf that was added, all the air bags were mounted here. In the lower portion of this compartment, a plastic welded divider was made and ice rescue equipment and cribbing were secured. In the rear of the apparatus, a black poly floor board was mounted on the slide out tray and a cutter, spreader, power unit, and ram were mounted. Two fuel cans were secured on each side wall. A plastic shelf was added above these items to hold the hoses for the cutter and spreader. Two nozzles were mounted on the back of the apparatus near the discharges. In the third passengers side compartment, a Chanl Panl wall board was added and the portable lights were mounted. A cord adapter bracket was added to the door in this compartment. A small shelf was added in this compartment to hold battery chargers. In the lower area of this compartment, a plastic welded divider was made to hold a fan, generator, and four extinguishers. In the second passengers side compartment, a Chanl Panl wall board was mounted and hand tools including a sledge hammer, NY hook, irons, bolt cutters, claw tool, and pick head axe were mounted. In the first passengers side compartment, a Chanl Panl wall board was mounted and an SCBA and spare bottle were mounted. A small shelf was added to hold a second set of irons. In the lower portion of this compartment, a plastic welded divider was made to secure a cooler, cones, hose rolls, foam and absorbent. All equipment was labeled with red/white tags. This truck was completed in 5 days.
