New Pierce Ladder for Berea Fire Department, Berea, Ohio. Sensible Products worked with the committee prior to the truck arriving at Sensible Products to get an idea of their equipment mounting ideas and get a plan together. Once the truck arrived at Sensible Products the plan was reviewed and work on the truck began. This truck was to carry a lot of equipment, so organizing and packaging it correctly was crucial. In the first drivers side compartment, the out/down slide out unit was moved up to allow for more mounting space below for water flow equipment. Tarps and light duty equipment was stored on the out/down unit. In the middle of the compartment, Sensible Products removed 3 small dividers to allow for mounting space and access on all 3 walls and shelf in this area. Chanl Panl was mounted on the side and rear walls and all water flow equipment and accessories were mounted here. Large diameter fittings, small couplings, adapters, and caution tape were all mounted. A black poly floor board was mounted on the shelf in this area and a few nozzles, wyes, and hydrant gate were mounted. The lower slide out with dividers and hose rolls remained the same. In the second drivers side compartment, Chanl Panl was added to both sides of the swing out tool board and the back wall. A variety of tools including irons, sledge hammer, piercing nozzle, K-tool, bolt cutters, hook, pick axe, shovel, roof tool, pry bars, hose wand and water key were mounted. In the third drivers side compartment, a black poly floor board was mounted and all nozzles and water flow accessories that did not fit in the first compartment were mounted here. This included more nozzles, foam tube, and foam eductor. In the fourth drivers side compartment, all extrication equipment and accessories were mounted here. On the top shelf, custom brackets and straps were made to hold the batteries and chargers. In the middle of the compartment, an additional aluminum shelf was added and a cutter and strong arm were mounted. A bracket was also mounted for the windshield cutter. In the lower portion of this compartment on the slide out tray, a black poly floor board was added and a spreader and ram were mounted. In the rear of the apparatus, four additional fittings were mounted on a black poly board in between the ladder storage. In the fifth passengers side compartment, the existing small shelf was moved up to better accommodate the equipment below. Custom brackets and straps were mounted hold batteries and chargers. A plastic shelf by Sensible Products was mounted in the back of the compartment to hold a sawzall and small rotary saw. A pocket for saw parts was added to the back wall. On the lower slide out tray a black poly floor board was added and a rotary saw and chain saw were mounted. Two posts for extra saw blades were mounted on the side walls of the compartment. In the fourth passengers side compartment, a small shelf was removed to better accommodate the Rit pack and other bags. In the third passengers side compartment, a black poly floor board was added. Two straps were added on the shelf in this compartment to hold shovels and a broom. In the second passengers side compartment, a custom plastic welded divider was made for the lower portion of this compartment to hold a fan, cribbing and air bags. In the first passengers side compartment, black poly floor boards were added to the slide out trays and equipment was reorganized into disciplines. In the cab, mounts for two sledge hammers and two axes were provided in the rear of the cab and a halligan was mounted in the front of the cab near the passengers seat. A plastic divider was also made for the cab to hold a water cooler and other miscellaneous equipment. Three plastic welded glove box holders by Sensible Products were also mounted in the cab, two in the rear, one in the front. All equipment was labeled with red/white tags. This truck was completed in 7 business days.
