New Sutphen Pumper for Ashtabula Fire Department, Ashtabula, OH. When the Fire Department did their apparatus specification for the new truck, they included Sensible Products equipment mounting in the spec. Once the truck was completed at Sutphen, it was delivered to Sensible Products. A detailed equipment mounting plan was established and work began. In the first drivers side compartment, one shelf was removed to better accommodate the equipment that needed to be carried in this area. Chanl Panl was added to the back and side walls and all water flow equipment was mounted. This included large diameter fittings, smaller couplings, adapters, mallets, hydrant wrench, pipe wrench, and various nozzles and wyes were mounted on the remaining shelf. A hose roller and foam eductor were mounted on the door. In the lower area of this compartment, a plastic welded divider was made to hold the portable monitor, hose rolls, tool box, hose clamp and flares. This all made for a nice, well packaged compartment. In the second drivers side compartment, the existing shelf was lowered and tilted forward to better access the hotel pack and Reeves that were secured on the shelf with straps. Under the shelf, a black plastic floor board was added and battery tools, two saws, and a pocket for saw parts were mounted. In the third drivers side compartment, the two existing shelves were rearranged. On the top shelf, rope bags and tarps were mounted. Under this shelf, Chanl Panl back wall and side wall boards were mounted. Stabilizer jacks, air tools, and a come-a-long were mounted on the Chanl Panl. On the additional shelf that was added, all the air bags were mounted here. In the lower portion of this compartment, a plastic welded divider was made and ice rescue equipment and cribbing were secured. In the rear of the apparatus, a black poly floor board was  mounted on the slide out tray and a cutter, spreader, power unit, and ram were mounted. Two fuel cans were secured on each side wall. A plastic shelf was added above these items to hold the hoses for the cutter and spreader. Two nozzles were mounted on the back of the apparatus near the discharges. In the third passengers side compartment, a Chanl Panl wall board was added and the portable lights were mounted. A cord adapter bracket was added to the door in this compartment. A small shelf was added in this compartment to hold battery chargers. In the lower area of this compartment, a plastic welded divider was made to hold a fan, generator, and four extinguishers. In the second passengers side compartment, a Chanl Panl wall board was mounted and hand tools including a sledge hammer, NY hook, irons, bolt cutters, claw tool, and pick head axe were mounted. In the first passengers side compartment, a Chanl Panl wall board was mounted and an SCBA and spare bottle were mounted. A small shelf was added to hold a second set of irons. In the lower portion of this compartment, a plastic welded divider was made to secure a cooler, cones, hose rolls, foam and absorbent. All equipment was labeled with red/white tags. Two Pierce Engines for Massillon Fire Department, Massillon, Ohio. Sensible Products Inc. worked with the Massillon Fire Department prior to the two trucks arriving at Sensible Products to look at the trucks and give them an quote on the equipment mounting. Both trucks were delivered to Sensible Products at the same time, which made completing the job faster because both trucks were to be set up identically. In the first drivers side compartment, both vertical slide outs had Chanl Panl mounted to both sides and also the side walls of this compartment. All water flow equipment was mounted on the left side wall and on one vertical slide out. This included storz fittings, small couplings, mallet, various nozzles, foam tube, foam eductor and wrenches. On the other vertical slide out and right side wall, tools including: pick head axe, flat head axe, NY Hook, bolt cutters, sledge hammer, K-tool, and piercing nozzle were mounted. Black poly floor boards were also mounted in this compartment. In the second drivers side compartment, a black poly floor board was mounted to the floor and on the slide out/down unit. The out/down unit was lowered to allow enough room to mount two saws, but left enough room to slide tarps underneath. A chain and rotary saw were mounted, a pocket for saw parts, and a post for extra saw blades was mounted. In the third drivers side compartment, a plastic welded compartment divider was installed to separate and secure the air bags, cribbing, and various bags and boxes. Kodiak Jacks and a sawzall were mounted on the top shelf in this compartment. A custom cargo net was added to help secure the cribbing. In the lower portion of this compartment on the slide out tray, a cutter, spreader, and ram were mounted. In the rear of the apparatus, a vent fan and hydrant bag were mounted on a black poly floor board. In the third passengers side compartment, a Chanl Panl wall board was mounted and cords and adapters were mounted. A portable light was mounted on the shelf. In the lower portion of this compartment on the slide out tray, a plastic welded divider was made to hold the generator and portable lights. The divider provides each piece of equipment their own space to sit in without sliding around. In the second passengers side compartment, a Chanl Panl wall board was mounted and black poly board was mounted on the floor. In this compartment, two SCBAs, rope bags, and EMS bag were mounted. In the first passengers side compartment, a Chanl Panl wall board was mounted and three fire extinguishers and a RIT Pack were mounted. Sensible Products visited the Fire Department to look at the new apparatus prior to it arriving at Sensible Products for equipment mounting. Sensible Products worked with the committee to come up with an equipment mounting plan. Once the apparatus arrived at Sensible Products, the equipment mounting plan was reviewed and work began. This truck had a lot of shelves and panels that were ultimately removed to make better use of the space for the equipment they were carrying. This is why we stress to plan for the equipment to be carried when specing out the truck. In the first drivers side compartment, one of the aluminum panels was cut in half and several small shelves were removed from this compartment. Chanl Panl boards were added to the rear wall and both sides of the vertical slide out board. All water flow equipment including LDH fittings, smaller couplings and adapters were mounted on the rear wall and slide out vertical board. Nozzles were mounted on the floor next to the vertical slide out board. A plastic welded divider was made to hold several hose rolls. The top of this divider provided another platform where the additional wyes and valves were mounted. In the second drivers side compartment, the existing out/down slide out unit was lowered and an additional shelf was added in the back top area of this compartment to hold light duty equipment. On the out/down slide out unit a black poly floor board and back board were added and a chain saw, rotary saw, fuel mix, and saw parts pocket were mounted. In the third drivers side compartment, the existing box to hold SCBAs and one shelf were removed from this compartment. Black poly floor boards were added to the floor and remaining shelf and Chanl Panl boards were mounted on both sides of the vertical slide out board. On the shelf, a cord reel and lights were mounted, and underneath that shelf a plastic welded divider with strap was mounted to hold 4 fire extinguishers. On the Chanl Panl vertical slide out board and side walls, extra tool handles, shovels, claw tools, and broom heads were mounted. In the rear compartment of the apparatus, a black poly floor board was mounted on the slide out unit and a PPV fan and generator were secured. The salvage tub/tarps went above the fan and generator on a shelf. On the top of the apparatus, a plastic welded divider was made to hold a Little Giant Ladder. In the third passengers side compartment, several shelves were removed to better accommodate the equipment. A Chanl Panl rear wall board was added and several tool heads and a K-tool were mounted. In the lower section of this compartment, 2 plastic welded boxes were made to hold chains and chimney kit.
