New KME Engine for Austintown Fire Department, Austintown, Ohio. Sensible Products Inc. visited the Fire Department before they brought their truck to come up with an equipment mounting plan and provide a quote. Once the apparatus arrived at Sensible Products the equipment mounting plan was in place. In the first drivers side compartment, all water flow equipment was mounted. One shelf was removed in this area to make better use of the space. Chanl Panl rear wall and side wall boards were added and all LDH fittings, couplings, adapters, barrier tape, mallets, hydrant gate, and nozzles were mounted in this area. In the lower section of this compartment, a divider was added to separate and secure hose rolls and a space for gear. The vertical slide out in this compartment already had a mounting board on it so a piercing nozzle and pockets for miscellaneous equipment was added. On the opposite side of the slide out, various hydrant tools were mounted and as well as a gate valve and gated wye. In the second drivers side compartment on the out/down unit, a rotary and chain saw were mounted. A post for extra blades was mounted on the side wall and a pocket for saw parts was added. A fuel can was also secured with a bracket and strap. In the lower portion of this compartment a 1″ x 1″ piece of aluminum was added along the Turtle Tile to better hold in the hotel pack. In the third drivers side compartment, one shelf was adjusted to better fit equipment that needed to go here. A plastic welded divider by Sensible Products was added to secure and separate fire extinguishers and HazMat Kit. The vertical slide out in this compartment already had a mounting board on it, so all tools were mounted directly to that. Tools mounted included: Sledge hammer, pry tool, crow bar, flat and pick head axes, K-tool, pike pole, short halligan, cable cutters, bolt cutters, and pry bar. A shovel and regular size halligan were mounted on the side wall of this compartment. The rear of the apparatus held all extrication equipment. Two rams, a cutter, spreader, and generator were mounted. In the third passengers side compartment, a Chanl Panl rear wall board was added. A black poly board was added on the top shelf to hold back the air bags and a custom tool caddy was made to hold all air bag controls. The unit is able to be lifted out of the compartment and carried to where it needs to be. The second shelf housed cribbing. On the lower slide out tray, a strap was added for a generator and space left for a second generator. A custom plastic welded box was made to hold the remainder of the cribbing and chain kit. In the second passengers side compartment, a 1″ x 1″ piece of aluminum was added along the Turtle Tile to better hold back the stabilizer jack and tarps. In the first passengers side compartment, a Chanl Pall rear wall board was added in the upper section of this compartment to hold a sawzall and portable lights. Two fans were secured on the lower slide out in this compartment. A half shelf was added in this compartment to hold various tool kits. All equipment was labeled with red white tags. This truck was completed in 3 1/2 days.
